CO2 Neutral

How can a tree neutralize the CO2 produced by your blog? How much CO2 is absorbed by a tree?

It depends on several factors, but the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) calculates that a tree absorbs an average of about 10 kilos of CO2 per year.

How much CO2 does a blog produce?

According to Dr. Alexander Wissner-Gross, a Harvard physicist, a website produces an average of about 0.02 g of CO2 per visit. Assuming in my case an average traffic of 10,000 page views a month, this is equivalent to 2.4 kilos of CO2 per year. This production depends mostly on how the server works.

Therefore, if my blog produces at least 2.4 kilos of CO2 per year and a tree neutralizes10 kilos and lives an average of 50 years, by planting a tree the emissions of this blog (assuming a constant traffic of 10,000 page views a month) will be neutralized for more than 50 years!

So, how can I neutralize the CO2 production of my blog?
